A District Manager is responsible for managing all facets of operations for multiple optical offices within a designated district. This includes but is not limited to; the daily operation of an office, team member management, budgetary controls and inventory controls while maintaining the highest level of patient service. Ensuring our patients have the best experience is a priority; The Total Patient Experience will be visible in all locations.

SECTION 2: Duties and Responsibilities   

  • Direct and execute the overall sales and profitability of more than one office location through the effective execution of Total Patient Experience (TPE).
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of our skilled optometric offices in the designated district, provide regular coaching and hands-on support to ensure effective operation and patient experience.
  • Analyze office financial data and make recommendations regarding steps which can be implemented on the retail side of the business to improve profitability.
  • Interview, hire, train, and direct Office Managers in the office and become involved in the hiring and development of department heads who support the office-level team.
  • Ensure that team member training and development resources are utilized.
  • Motivate team members to exceed performance standards and recognize star performers.
  • Ensure team members and management teams are in place as needed for optimal performance.
  • Conduct site visits in order to ensure offices are functioning and meeting operational standards as well as provide immediate hands-on feedback and action to meet standards.
  • Provide regular reporting to the Regional Director, Regional VP, HR, Marketing, and Finance.
  • Perform supervisory functions, including but not limited to, making team member decisions regarding hiring, promoting, demoting and terminating, conducting performance appraisals and coaching and development of talent.
  • Monitor activities to ensure proper workflow and control inventory processes to enhance member experience.
  • Regular travel with some overnight travel is required.
  • The District Manager will oversee approximately 8-10 optical offices and 90+ employees
    Adhere to all safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities while supporting a culture of high quality and great customer service.
  • Performs other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the organization.

  • Previous optical management experience preferred.
  • Industry related experience will be beneficial.
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Management preferred.
  • Favorable result on background check as required by state.

SECTION 7: Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • Directly supervises Office Managers, Licensed Office Manager, Senior Office Managers, and Licensed Senior Office Managers within assigned District.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include participation in interviewing, hiring, and training team members, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining team members, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Location: Work takes place in a normal office/clinical environment. Travel to other locations is necessary to fulfill essential duties and responsibilities of the job. Thus, those needing to travel for work must have access to dependable transportation, and driving record must meet company liability carrier standards.

Exposure:   Works in normal office environment during normal business hours. May be exposed to blood or bodily fluids. May also be exposed to various cleaning supplies. 

Equipment: The equipment typically used in this position is a computer, fax, copier, printer, scanner and telephone.  Must have good working knowledge of Microsoft applications.  Other equipment may be used as needed. May use Oprometric equipment/devices per sub-specialty requirement such as lensometer; keratometer; phoropter; visual acuity measuring; retinal camera; corneal topography unit; retinoscope. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment.
